Joanne Bradley

Head of Global Communications

Joanne has been our Head of Global Communications since joining us in 2001. In 2011 she was appointed to Standard Life Investments Ltd Board.

From 1991 to 2001, Joanne held various roles at Lloyds TSB Scotland including (1996) Chief Press Officer. Previously an international and corporate banking career spanning 20 years included responsibility for cross border payments, correspondent banking in the US and Europe, and treasury functions. Joanne started her career with Royal Bank of Scotland in retail and international banking roles until 1991.

Joanne has also held a number of key advisory roles in her career. (2004) Campaign Manager for Standard Life demutualisation 'yes' vote, (1993) Various working parties in Europe on Single Currency Task Force (1991) European Monetary Union UK representative in Brussels.

Brian Simmons

Press Manager

Brian joined Standard Life Investments as Press Manager in August 2002, having worked in press and public relations for over 15 years prior to joining the company.

Previous experience with the Scottish Office included media arrangements for Royal Visits to Scotland and all media aspects of Scottish Office activity in Parliament including close liaison with the Westminster Lobby Correspondents.

Immediately prior to joining Standard Life Investments, Brian was involved in establishing press offices in Edinburgh and London for the newly created Scotland Office and acting as Press Officer for Secretary of State John Reid.

Hilda Stewart

Press Manager

Hilda graduated from St Andrews University in 1999 with an MA Honours in English and French. After a period of world travels, she returned to Scotland to work for PR agencies The Communication Group and Curious Oranj. Working across events, sponsorship and media relations, she helped raise the profile of a wide range of clients within the property, B2B and tourism sectors.

An associate member of the Institute for Public Relations in Scotland, Hilda joined Standard Life Investments in 2003. She has specific responsibility for Investment Trusts, Strategy, Mutual Funds, Corporate Governance and SRI.

Sara Reed

Press Manager

Sara started at Standard Life Investments at the end of 2011, with 18 years media and PR experience in both public and private sectors.

Previously Sara worked at the Ministry of Defence, where she set up and ran strategic communications in Scotland. Her work took her from Helmand to the Hebrides, running the full spectrum of PR activities including advising defence Ministers and military chiefs, managing projects in Afghanistan, liaising with defence industry, and building links with the Scottish Government.

Before the MoD, Sara worked for PR consultancy Weber Shandwick, managing campaigns for clients and specialising in the commercial property sector. She started her career with stints as a newspaper and broadcast journalist in Scotland.

Yvonne Soulsby

Press Manager

Yvonne joined the Standard Life Investments Press Office in September 2010, having worked in the Standard Life Group Press Office for over 4 years. She has specific responsibility for Global publications, the Strategy Team, UK Institutional, Real Estate, Corporate Governance and Investment Trusts.

Having graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 1988 with a BA (Hons) in Economics, Yvonne first worked for Hodgson Martin Limited, an independent venture capital, investment management and financial services company based in Edinburgh. Clients included both institutional and private investors from the UK, Europe and the US. Appointed to the Board in 1994, she was with the company for eleven years until the firm was sold. Yvonne subsequently joined private client investment manager and stockbroker, Bell Lawrie (now Brewin Dolphin), as Business Development Manager. A new role within the organisation, Yvonne was appointed to establish the business development, communication and marketing strategy for the company's seven offices in Scotland.

Rosalind Gould

Press Assistant

Rosalind graduated from the University of Auckland in 2001 with a BA (hons) in political science. After travelling and working in numerous far-flung locations, Rosalind completed a post-graduate diploma in communications management in 2008 and returned to Edinburgh, joining the press team at Standard Life Investments in May 2010.

Rosalind's main responsibilities at Standard Life Investments include supporting the Press Team, providing information to journalists and managing the company's editorial contribution to target publications.
