Moneywise Award for Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC
27 March 2008
Standard Life Investments, a leading investment house, today announced that the Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust Plc has won the Moneywise ‘Best Small Companies Trust’ category for the second year running.
Drawn from a shortlist of five funds, the Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust Plc, managed by Harry Nimmo, was selected by a panel of industry experts with emphasis on performance, manager skill, investment strategy, resources, prospects and pricing.
Gordon Humphries, Head of Investment Companies, Standard Life Investments, said:
"The Moneywise awards are renowned for recognising consistently good performance, so I’m particularly pleased that the Trust has won the ‘Best Small Companies Trust’ category for the second year in a row. Given the volatility that the markets have experienced in recent months, it’s important that investors are aware of funds that generate solid performance year in, year out - rather than vehicles that do well one year and fall away the next.
"Fund manager, Harry Nimmo, backed by his UK Smaller Companies team, continues to pick out some of the UK’s most promising smaller companies - a skill that has rewarded investors with consistent and robust performance. This accolade is testimony to the hard work and commitment of Harry and his team."
Standard Life Investments manages around £750m in strongly performing investment trusts across a diverse range of asset classes - UK equity large cap, UK equity small cap, property and private equity.
Those who invest in a Trust managed by Standard Life Investments through its ISA or Savings Scheme, or transfer existing ISA or PEP investments, will enjoy 0% initial charge on their investment. The offer runs from 1 February to 31 May 2008.
