Your training
The best way to learn a job is by doing it. That’s why the most important aspect of your training during your two-year programme will be gaining hands-on experience. You'll be involved in all aspects of managing a property portfolio. Working with a portfolio manager, you'll learn how to chair letting meetings, issue instructions to solicitors, manage development projects and deal with property consultants, agents and tenants.
In addition to this practical experience, you'll also be expected to pass the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and qualify as a chartered surveyor.
Your development
Because we believe in giving you responsibility early in your career, you’ll be helping to manage a property portfolio from day one. We’ll expect you to quickly fit into the team and move on to manage your own portfolio to exacting performance targets.
Every day you could be involved in buying and selling properties, valuations, lease renewals and negotiations, rent reviews, refurbishment and development projects, as well as determining the tenant mix. You'll also be expected to identify investment opportunities.
In addition, your personal development may focus on subjects like presentation skills, building customer relationships and the art of negotiation.
