Why Investment Operations?
The role of Investment Operations is to provide operational support to Standard Life Investments. As a graduate, you’ll develop all the skills and experience you need to succeed in this sophisticated area. You'll see at first hand the workings of international investment markets and learn how to manage people and processes. You'll be given real responsibilities and, as you progress, you’ll learn how to find business solutions to an array of different challenges.
This programme calls for strong leadership potential and the ability to be proactive in your approach.

Where it fits in
The operations area focuses on providing world class operational support to Standard Life Investments. At the heart of this support is the management of client and supplier relationships, as we look to build scalability and flexibility into our operations. We strive to deliver superior performance and profit targets in all operational areas.
Your training
Your 'on desk' training will be supplemented by project work and internal and external courses on subjects ranging from team working and project management to technical investment topics. The emphasis is on professional and managerial development and you will complete the Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Your development
The two-year programme in Operations entails a series of placements in the key business areas of Investment Operations. These include Property Operations, Finance, Mutual Funds Service Delivery Unit, Operations & Client Servicing Change, Technology, Compliance and Risk, and Investment Management Services. You may also have the opportunity for placements in a number of support areas including Marketing. At the end of each placement, you’ll have the chance to present to management your assessment of the processes in that particular area.
